CPhA Strategic Plan 2024-2026
CPhA has launched a new Strategic Plan for 2024-2026. Guided by a strong mission to be the national voice for every pharmacist, for all of pharmacy, our new plan was developed following extensive community consultations and is built on 2 key pillars that will take our association and our profession into the future.
IPPC Indigenous Pharmacy Scholarship: Now accepting applications
Applications are now being accepted for the IPPC Indigenous Pharmacy Scholarship for the 2024-2025 academic year. With both PharmD and technician scholarships available, this funding will help reduce financial barriers for Indigenous youth interested in pursuing a career in pharmacy. CPhA has developed a series of practice tools to enhance pharmacist knowledge, awareness and environmental stewardship, leading to improved patient care, reduced health-care spending and progress toward sustainable health-care practices. The toolkit was created with funding from Choosing Wisely Canada.
ICYMI: CPhA complaint to Competition Bureau and statement on payer-directed care
Late last month, CPhA submitted a formal complaint to the Competition Bureau of Canada about a new service fee and the ongoing abuse of dominance by Express Scripts Canada (ESC), and released a statement taking a firm stance against payer-directed care.
CPhA responds to new pharmacare legislation
Introduced on February 29, Bill C-64, An Act respecting pharmacare, is currently going through the legislative process. The Bill, if passed, will be a first step in establishing universal pharmacare. CPhA responded to the announcement, urging the Minister of Health to include a community pharmacist on the expert advisory committee that is being created to shape the new program.

The University of Toronto’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy recently hosted a dynamic event featuring a panel of pharmacy advocates, including CPhA’s Chief Pharmacist Officer, Danielle Paes. The session focused on challenges and opportunities related to current pharmacy practice, and explored how pharmacists can use their skills and education to drive change in our profession.
