Dr. Debbie Kelly has been named the 2025 Canadian Pharmacist of the Year by CPhA, recognizing her leadership and groundbreaking work in HIV care, health equity and the advancement of pharmacy practice.
Express Scripts service fee update
CPhA welcomes the Competition Bureau’s investigation into Express Scripts Canada (ESC), announced on April 11. This action follows the formal complaint CPhA filed in February 2024, which raised serious concerns about ESC’s use of its dominant position in the pharmacy benefits management (PBM) market, including the imposition of a mandatory service fee on pharmacies across the country. PBMs have operated unchecked for far too long, and this investigation marks an important step toward greater accountability.
