From your organization's perspective, what is the biggest challenge facing pharmacy and/or the health-care system?

One of the most significant challenges facing the pharmacy and health-care systems today is the need for better integration of pharmacists into primary care. As the demand for health-care services increases, particularly with an aging population, primary care systems are under increasing pressure. Pharmacists are uniquely positioned to contribute meaningfully to the transformation of how primary care is delivered in Canada. By expanding their roles in areas like chronic disease management, medication therapy management and preventative care, pharmacists can be integral partners in a more sustainable, patient-centered health-care system.

How can we work together to overcome this challenge?

Collaboration is key to addressing this challenge. Working together with provincial pharmacy associations, the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA), and other health-care stakeholders, we can advocate for policies that recognize pharmacists as essential members of primary care teams. By aligning our efforts, independent pharmacies can be empowered to play a more central role in health-care delivery, supporting better patient outcomes and system sustainability.

What is your organization currently working on that would be of interest to the broader pharmacy community?

PharmaChoice Canada is focused on supporting its Members’ growth, sustainability and independence through strategic initiatives that foster innovation, operational excellence and strong partnerships. We are dedicated to expanding our national footprint, driving Membership growth and improving category performance, to enhance patient care and contribute to healthier communities.

Why does your organization belong to CPhA's Pharmacy Network?

PharmaChoice Canada is a proud member of the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) because we believe in the importance of a unified voice for the pharmacy profession in Canada. As a Pharmacy Network member, we value CPhA’s commitment to advancing the role of pharmacists in patient care, advocating for policies that support the profession and providing resources that enhance the skills and knowledge of pharmacy teams. Our membership with CPhA allows us to collaborate with like-minded organizations, share best practices and contribute to the stewardship of independent pharmacy.
