Helping International Pharmacy Graduates gain the knowledge, skills and experience to enter the Canadian workforce.
Mentorship Activities
Learning Sessions
Designed for IPGs in the very early to early stages of licensure (e.g., IPGs considering relicensing in Canada, IPGs undertaking their assessment of education and IPGs studying for the PEBC Evaluating Exam), our large group learning sessions provide a foundational understanding of pharmacy practice and the licensure process in Canada. Topics include Canadian health care, pathways and steps to licensure, career opportunities, regulatory roles, exam preparation and navigating barriers to licensure. Participants will gain essential insights that will support their journey towards becoming licensed pharmacists in Canada.
Engagement Sessions
Designed for IPGs navigating the mid-to-later stages of licensure (e.g., those who have completed the PEBC Evaluating Exam) in Canada, our small group, mentored engagement sessions delve into critical aspects of the licensure journey, offering insights on exam preparation, securing practical training placements and understanding the nuances of Canadian pharmacy practice. Participants gain knowledge about diverse scopes of practice and career pathways while cultivating leadership skills and developing effective communication skills within a supportive, inclusive environment.
Virtual Mentorship
One-on-one virtual mentoring is available for unlicensed IPG participants in the mid-to-later stages of licensure (e.g., those who have completed the PEBC Evaluating Exam and are planning for the Qualifying Exam or licensing assessments, etc) to help build their networks and obtain one-on-one support as they navigate the licensure process and their future careers in Canadian pharmacy.
Mentored Work Placements
Paid/subsidized mentored work placements are available to IPGs who have passed the PEBC Evaluating Exam and IPGs who are registered as interns (or equivalent) through their regulator and can work to full scope under pharmacist supervision. The mentored work placements will provide essential, practical experience and guidance in a community pharmacy setting to help IPGs prepare for national pharmacy exams and licensure assessments.
IPG Integration Training
Through our IPG integration training, we’ll equip mentors, pharmacy owners and staff with insights into the challenges faced by IPGs throughout licensure and while integrating into the Canadian pharmacy workforce. By offering practical tools and strategies, the program aims to empower participants to actively address disparities and promote a culture of inclusivity and integration within the pharmacy environment.
