Engagement Sessions

 

Designed for IPGs navigating the mid-to-later stages of licensure (e.g., those who have completed the PEBC Evaluating Exam) in Canada, our small group mentored engagement sessions delve into critical aspects of this process and pharmacy practice.

These sessions provide valuable insights into licensure challenges and supports and understanding professional practice and pharmacy culture in Canada. Participants will not only deepen their knowledge of diverse practice settings, scopes and career opportunities, but will also grow their networks and develop their leadership and communication skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Activity Details

  • Format: Virtual (Zoom)
  • Facilitators: These sessions will be facilitated by experienced pharmacists and leaders in the profession
  • Frequency: Once per month
  • Number of participants: 10-12 per session
  • Session length: 1-1.5 hours
  • Potential Topics:
    • Overcoming barriers to licensure
    • Pharmacy practice settings and opportunities
    • Conflict resolution in pharmacy
    • Building professional networks
    • Communication and privacy in pharmacy

Eligibility

Each IPG participant must:

  • Be a permanent or temporary resident, Canadian citizen or person granted refugee status in Canada, who is legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Hold an internationally obtained undergraduate degree in pharmacy.
  • Hold a Canadian Language Benchmark of 7+ preferred or equivalent; and
  • One of the following:
    • Passed the PEBC Evaluating Exam; or
    • Been accepted into the Nova Scotia Streamlined pathway; or
    • Applied successfully to the Ordre des pharmaciens du Québec; or
    • Registered successfully as an intern, student, provisional pharmacist (or equivalent) through their provincial regulatory authority

How to Participate

To participate this activity, simply apply to the project and select this option on the application form. Our project staff will reach out to verify your eligibility and guide you through a brief screening process. Once you’re approved, you’ll receive details about upcoming sessions with an option to register. We look forward to seeing you at a future session!

Evaluation

We kindly ask all participants to complete a survey both before and after the session. You may also be invited to complete brief follow-up surveys at a later date to help us evaluate the outcomes and impact of the project activity. Your feedback is invaluable and helps us improve our program!
