Mentors

 

As a pharmacist, you have the unique opportunity to shape the careers of International Pharmacy Graduates (IPGs) and contribute to the growth and strength of the pharmacy profession in Canada. By becoming a mentor with the IPG Mentorship & Integration Project, you can provide invaluable guidance and support to those navigating licensure and their future careers.

Why Mentor?

Mentoring an IPG is a rewarding experience that allows you to:

  • Give back: Share your expertise and experiences to help IPGs overcome challenges and succeed in their careers.
  • Build connections: Develop meaningful professional relationships with new and new-to-Canada pharmacists.
  • Nurture your leadership skills: Consider new perspectives and improve your mentoring and leadership abilities.
  • Strengthen the profession: Contribute to a stronger, more diverse pharmacy workforce.

How It Works

As a mentor, you will:

  • Provide guidance: Offer insights into the licensure and exam processes, entry to practice and different pharmacy settings.
  • Share knowledge: Help IPGs understand the profession of pharmacy in Canada and the evolving role of pharmacists in healthcare delivery.
  • Offer support: Be a source of encouragement and advice, helping your mentee navigate their career path.
  • Facilitate networking: Introduce your mentee to professional networks and opportunities within the pharmacy community.

Mentor Eligibility

All mentors must:

  • Have an interest and willingness to educate, coach and mentor.
  • Be committed to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Get Started

  • Sign up: Complete the mentor application form to express your interest.
  • Talk to us: We’ll reach out to discuss your interests and background so we can make a meaningful mentorship match.
  • Get matched: We’ll pair you with an IPG based on your profile and experience and their needs.
  • Access resources and supports: We’ll provide you with mentorship guidelines, resources, orientation training and other helpful supports to prepare for your role.
  • Start mentoring: Begin your mentoring journey and support your mentee as they advance towards licensure.
