  • People of all ages who need support can text Kids Help Phone 24/7 at 686868 (youth) or 741741 (adults) to speak to a trained volunteer crisis responder. Young people can also call 1-800-668-6868 to speak with a professional counsellor 24/7 or chat with a counsellor by visiting kidshelpphone.ca
  • Indigenous Peoples can call 1-855-242-3310 or text the online chat offered by Hope for Wellness at hopeforwellness.ca.


Canada’s pharmacy teams have taken on a lot to care for and support their patients and communities. The prolonged pressure of the pandemic and the ongoing strain on our health system continues to highlight the significant physical and mental stresses health workers bear as they care for their patients.

Taking care of yourself, resilience and personal well-being

  • Mindfulness sessions for HCPs – Library of short mindfulness videos led by health professionals for health professionals. (Pause 4 Providers)
  • Pause, Reset and Nourish Toolkit (PRN) – A tool aimed to support daily mental health of healthcare workers, including instructions and strategies to manage stress and build resilience. (Hamilton Health Sciences)
  • A Prescription for Professional Wellness – A podcast series hosted by Amy Oliver, Pharmacist and Certified Leadership Coach, and Dr. Carly Crewe, Psychotherapist and Empowerment Coach to help facilitate conversation about mental health challenges that pharmacy professionals are currently facing.   • Resilience planner, Self-reflection worksheet, Self-care action planner – Tools to support self-care, self-reflection, and resilience. (Pharmacist Support)
  • Supporting the resilience of the pharmacy workforce – A suite of tools and resources to help build resilience, including a resilience and emotional intelligence inventory for health-care professionals. (Centre for Practice Excellence (CPE) at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy)

Taking care of your pharmacy team

  • Returning to the Workplace – Resiliency Toolkit for Managers – This toolkit provides information, strategies, graphics and forms that managers and staff can use to improve wellness within any team (not just health-care teams). Use the table of contents to navigate through the various topics including burnout, grief, loss, trauma, stress management, self-care and resiliency. (Family Services Employee Assistance Program)
  • Psychological Health and Safety – A 3-part series and workbook on psychological safety that guides pharmacy leaders on how to accommodate those on your team who may be facing challenges, start discussions on psychological health, and create a mentally safe working space. (Ontario Pharmacists Association)

Our drug and therapeutic content covers a wide variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, insomnia, PTSD and addiction support. This information is designed to help you help your patients, but it also has many tips for ways to take care of yourself.
