Lindsay Stewart

Lindsay Stewart is a first-year student in the pharmacy technician program at Selkirk College. Born and raised in Williams Lake, BC, Lindsay has a 13-year-old daughter, Lily, whom she credits as her inspiration for continuing her education and embarking on a new career journey.

After working in the forestry industry for 8 years, Lindsay recognized a need for more health-care professionals in her community, and decided she wanted to pursue a career in pharmacy. “I love being around people and helping people, and I know a role as a pharmacy technician will allow me to do that,” she explains. “I want to show my daughter that no matter how old you are or how many obstacles life throws at you, there is always an opportunity to do something new and to make a difference,” she says.

Family and community are incredibly important to Lindsay, and she has prioritized activities that support active and healthy lifestyles for community members. Lindsay is a dedicated coach for her daughter’s bowling team, and a well-loved fitness instructor who volunteers for people who are still uncomfortable going into public places. She is grateful for her family and their ongoing support for her decision to further her education.

As an Indigenous person, Lindsay is committed to providing respectful and high-quality care to the entire community, ensuring that all of their needs are met. She is looking forward to using her knowledge and education in her hometown. “I am grateful to have been selected for this scholarship and know it will allow me to focus on and excel in my program. I am looking forward to starting my career as a pharmacy technician as I learn new things and help my patients every day. I am only one person, but one person can make a big difference.”
