COVID-19 vaccine safety
March 19, 2021
Across the country, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy students are proudly administering COVID-19 vaccines to Canadians.
Vaccines remain the most effective way to prevent infection, hospitalization and death. Before new vaccines receive authorization and approval in Canada, they are comprehensively reviewed by Health Canada. The authorization of COVID-19 vaccines indicates that they are both safe and effective.
While minor and temporary adverse events, such as headache, fever, fatigue, or pain at the injection site, may occur after any vaccinations, the benefits of receiving COVID-19 vaccines continue to outweigh the risks and Canadians can rest assured that the COVID-19 vaccines currently authorized in Canada will protect them from severe disease from COVID-19.
Pharmacists are an important and accessible source for up-to-date information and Canadians should speak to their pharmacist for information that will help them to clarify any concerns they might have.
