In this session, we will be connecting unlicensed International Pharmacy Graduates (IPGs) with recently licensed IPGs—project alumni who've navigated the Canadian licensure process. Participants will choose their own breakout room for the chance to ask questions directly and hear firsthand from alumni about their pathways and experiences.

Speaker bios

Eben-Alswell Lomotey

Eben-Alswell Lomotey is a pharmacist originally from Ghana, where he completed his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. He immigrated to Canada in July 2024 and successfully completed the Canadian pharmacy licensure process. He is now licensed to practise in both Manitoba and Ontario.

During his journey, Eben-Alswell participated in IPGMI mentorship and work-placement opportunities, gaining valuable insight into Canadian pharmacy practice. He currently works as a casual pharmacist with London Drugs and a staff pharmacist with Sobeys. He is passionate about sharing his experience and helping other international pharmacy graduates navigate their journey toward licensure in Canada.

Gamuchirai Chinogwenya

Gamuchirai Chinogwenya (Gamu) is a Canadian-licensed pharmacist with over ten years of international community pharmacy experience. Originally trained in Zimbabwe, she successfully transitioned into Canadian pharmacy practice and is currently licensed in both Alberta and Ontario. Her journey reflects the adaptability, persistence and commitment required to navigate the transition from international pharmacy practice to working within the Canadian healthcare system. Through her experience, she has developed a strong understanding of the opportunities and challenges that internationally trained pharmacists may encounter as they work toward establishing their careers in Canada.

Gamu’s professional experience includes community pharmacy practice, medication reviews, patient counselling, immunizations, point-of-care testing, travel health consultations and tuberculosis screening. She is passionate about continuous professional development, patient-centred care and supporting meaningful connections within the pharmacy profession. Having experience across different practice environments and provinces, she brings valuable insight into adapting to new professional settings, understanding regional differences and building confidence within the Canadian pharmacy landscape.

Outside of pharmacy, Gamu enjoys travelling, baking, networking and event planning. She values building meaningful connections, exploring new experiences and creating opportunities that bring people together.

Queenfreda Attaman

Queenfreda Attama is a licensed pharmacist with over nine years of diverse experience across the pharmaceutical industry, including Community Pharmacy, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Research, and Drug Research and Development. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to patient-centered care, medication safety, and advancing healthcare outcomes.

Currently, Queenfreda practices as a pharmacist with Neighbourly Pharmacy, where she focuses on Methadone Maintenance Treatment (MMT), patient counselling, medication management, and Minor Ailments prescribing. She is passionate about empowering patients through education and providing accessible, evidence-based pharmaceutical care.

Having successfully navigated the Canadian pharmacist licensing pathway herself, Queenfreda is also dedicated to mentoring and supporting internationally trained pharmacists pursuing licensure in Canada. Her goal is to simplify the licensing journey by offering guidance, practical insights, and professional support to help others achieve success in their pharmacy careers.

In addition to her clinical and professional interests, Queenfreda is recognized for her strong communication skills, leadership, and dedication to continuous professional development within the evolving healthcare landscape.

Rojin Tajmir

Rojin Tajmir studied in Italy before moving to Toronto to pursue licensure. The journey took about two years and came with challenges, but staying focused on her goal kept her moving forward. A mentored placement through Canadian Pharmacists Association became a turning point, giving her valuable experience and meaningful professional connections that she continues to carry with her.

After becoming licensed, Rojin followed her passion for teaching by working as an instructor in a Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada preparation course. She now works primarily in relief roles while preparing to start her own business, and she is always happy to support others beginning this path.
