Content updates

Major updates

The following content has been extensively updated and reviewed by 2 external peer reviewers:

  • Drug Use During Breastfeeding: Information on over 150 drugs and their use in breastfeeding; includes important principles of drug use during breastfeeding and a section on nonmedical use of drugs (alcohol, caffeine, cannabis, tobacco, and recreational drugs); new sections on drugs for COVID-19, drugs for medication abortion, drugs for alcohol use disorder, and antihyperlipidemic resins.
  • Pressure Injuries (formely known as ulcers or bedsores): Aligns with new Canadian and international guidelines, includes links to these new guidelines in Suggested Readings; includes new information on risk factors, goals of treatment, risks of infection, and antibiotic resistance.
 

Minor updates

The following content has been reviewed to ensure that it is current:

  • Oral Hygiene, Dental Plaque and Caries: Routine review.
  • Periodontal Conditions: More information about the effect of periodontitis on systemic health, including associations with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory disease, and pregnancy complications.
  • Tuberculosis: Routine review.
 

Drug monographs

The following drug monographs were recently added:

  • Ebglyss: Immunomodulator - Interleukin Inhibitor.

  • Intrarosa: Treatment of Postmenopausal Vulvovaginal Atrophy.

  • Lazcluze: Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) Tyrosine Kinase Inhibitor.
