CPhA seeks pharmacist and community input to support development of climate-sensitive infectious disease resources
The Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA), in partnership with the Indigenous Pharmacy Professionals of Canada (IPPC), is developing new climate-sensitive infectious disease toolkits to support pharmacists and communities across Canada.
As part of the RxClimate Action project, these resources aim to help pharmacy teams better understand and respond to the growing impact of climate change on infectious diseases, including Lyme disease, West Nile virus and waterborne infections.
Supporting pharmacists serving Indigenous communities
The RxClimate Action project places particular emphasis on supporting remote, underserved and Indigenous communities, while developing resources that can help pharmacists caring for patients in all settings across Canada.
To help shape practical, culturally relevant resources, CPhA and IPPC recently held a focus group to gather input from pharmacists who provide care to First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities.
Help us reach patients
We are also recruiting Indigenous community members to participate in a survey to share their perspectives on health, climate change, infection risks and access to pharmacy services. Community members who participate will also have a chance to win 1 of 10 $100 gift cards. You can help us reach your patients by:
- Displaying a poster at your pharmacy
- Sharing the survey link with your patients and community
Advancing climate-informed pharmacy care
Developed in collaboration with IPPC and supported through federal funding, the RxClimate Action project reflects CPhA’s ongoing commitment to equipping pharmacists to respond to emerging public health challenges and improve access to care for communities across Canada.
