Keynote: Addressing Women’s Health: Closing the Gender Health Gap and Health Disparities

Nese Yuksel, BScPharm, PharmD, FCSHP, NCMP

Dr. Nese Yuksel is a Professor and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the College of Health Sciences at the University of Alberta and the President of the Canadian Menopause Society. Her research goals include innovative approaches to improve access and enhance quality of care in women’s health, specifically menopause, reproductive health and osteoporosis.

 

Menopause clinical session: Feeling HOT? We Need to Talk!

Dragana Skokovic-Sunjic, RPh BScPhm NCMP

Dragana is a Clinical Pharmacist and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner (MSCP). She helps educate healthcare professionals and patients on evidence-based approaches to supporting women’s health and has presented scientific posters at the NAMS annual conference and the International Menopause Society Congress. She practices in a primary care setting with Hamilton Family Health Team.

 

Migraine clinical session: Migraine in Women: Addressing Patient Needs, Treatments, and Counselling across Stages of Life

Heba BaniHani, BScPharm, MBA MHD

Heba is an Ontario practicing pharmacist with a master’s degree in headache disorders from the University of Copenhagen. She is a visiting lecturer at Canadian & international pharmacy schools and is a member of the education and communication committees of the international headache society (IHS). In 2020, Heba launched The Migraine Pharmacist, a virtual practice supporting people living with headache disorders and migraine.

 

Endometriosis and Uterine Fibroids clinical session: Contemporary treatment options for uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and other common uterine disorders

Dr. Innie Chen, MD, MPH, FRCSC

Dr. Chen is an Associate Professor and Clinical Research Chair in Population Health and Health Services for Women in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology with Cross-Appointment to the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa, and an Associate Scientist at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. She currently works at the Shirley E. Greenberg Women’s Health Centre at the Ottawa Hospital, where she has a subspecialty practice for women with complex gynecologic conditions and offers minimally invasive and advanced laparoscopic surgery options. Dr. Chen is also part of the Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Canada (SOGC) Gynaecology Practice Committee and the international AAGL Practice Committee.

 

Panel Discussion: Women’s Heart and Brain Health: The Critical Role of Community Pharmacists

Christine Faubert, PhD

Christine is the Vice President, Health Equity & Mission Impact at Heart & Stroke and the Lead for Heart & Stroke’s Women’s Heart and Brain Health Initiative. She holds a PhD in Population Health and is passionate about health equity efforts, organizational strategy, innovation and learning, data and impact assessment, and partnership approaches to drive impact.

 

Sadaf Faisal, Ph.D., BCGP, B.Pharm, R.Ph

Sadaf Faisal

Dr. Sadaf Faisal is the Director, Professional Affairs with CPhA and is a pharmacist with over 15 years in various pharmacy practice settings. She holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the University of Waterloo and has geriatric pharmacy certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties in the United States. Sadaf is dedicated to enhancing pharmacy practice and improving patient care in Canada.

Dr. Danielle Paes is the Chief Pharmacist Officer (CPO) at the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) where she is driving strategic efforts in the areas of pharmacy practice, workforce sustainability and diversity, equity and inclusion. In addition to her role at CPhA, Danielle practises in a community setting, and has previously held roles in hospital pharmacy, industry and academia.
