Mentor Spotlight: Fariba Hashemi

Fariba Hashemi

Fariba Hashemi, RPh
Pharmacist, Lendrum Guardian Pharmacy
Edmonton, Alberta

One of the most rewarding parts of being a mentor is helping future generations of pharmacists grow into their profession and feel more confident in themselves and their skills. I especially find fulfillment in working with pharmacists from diverse backgrounds, particularly those who have recently immigrated. My aim is to share knowledge that helps IPGs navigate potential barriers, such as language challenges, cultural differences in care and adjusting to provincial licensure procedures.

Throughout my longstanding career as a pharmacist, I have greatly enjoyed sharing my experience in community and industrial practice, research and leadership with newcomer pharmacists, building a productive and meaningful relationship. Working with IPGs offers a unique, mutual learning experience. Through mentoring them, I continue to broaden my own knowledge and understanding of the field by learning from their diverse perspectives.
