CPhA Statement of Commitment

Diversity and inclusion are critical elements of all the work that we do at the Canadian Pharmacists Association. In order to achieve a healthy organization and promote a healthy pharmacist profession, our Diversity & Inclusion Framework will guide CPhA’s language, behaviours, policies, processes and actions across all departments and activities we undertake.

CPhA is committed to identifying and breaking down barriers to diversity and inclusion and to being a key partner and ally in driving change on issues of diversity and inclusion within the profession and the healthcare community. CPhA recognizes that systemic racism and discrimination remain pervasive in healthcare and are important social determinants of health. We are committed to reconciliation and to working at all levels to promote the dismantling of the systemic racism and discrimination that exists in pharmacy, within the healthcare system and institutions. CPhA strives to openly embrace and celebrate the multitude of identities that make up our society and to actively promote the value of diversity and inclusion.

CPhA will be deliberate in its advocacy for diversity and inclusion. Our leadership will model behaviours consistent with these values. We will actively solicit and respond to feedback, invest in resources, educate our team members, hold people accountable for their actions and make informed decisions on organizations we choose as partners and affiliates.

Committing to these actions will help CPhA create a culture of, and advocate for, diversity, inclusion, equity and belonging, resulting in a healthy organization, a healthy profession and a healthy population.
