Canadian Academy of the History of Pharmacy

The Canadian Academy of the History of Pharmacy (CAHP) served as the centre for research and information on historical and social aspects of pharmacy in Canada. The Academy was founded in 1945 to serve as a Canadian centre for research and information on historical and social aspects of pharmacy by aiding investigators, publication, study and interest in history of pharmacy, and by collecting historical records of pharmacy to make them available publicly and permanently.

In 2018 CAHP ceased operations after working with CPhA to act as the information repository to disseminate the information that CAHP collected over the years. CPhA gratufully acknowledges the efforts of John Bachynsky, Gary Cavanagh and the CAHP membership to facilitate this transition.

The Niagara Apothecary Museum
The Niagara Apothecary is an authentic museum restoration of a 1869 pharmacy as part of a practice that operated in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, from 1820 to 1964.

Virtual Museum of Canada
Virtual Museum of Canada (VMC) produced "The Healing Power of Plants" in association with institutional members of the Coalition of Canadian Health-Care Museums and Archives (CCHMA), which includes the Niagara Apothecary and the O'Mara Museum of Pharmacy in St. John's, among the Canadian pharmacy museums.

Castor Pharmacy Museum
The museum is representative of an early turn of the century Western Canadian pharmacy. Part of the charm and appeal is that is could be moved to just about any small town in Western Canada where it would be as representative there, as it is in Castor.

James J. O'Mara Pharmacy Museum
Heritage Drugstore, a replica of a working Apothecary, with a set of oak drugstore fixtures (1879), show globes, shop bottles and many other pharmacy implements used in the preparation of different medications. Built in 1922 and operated as Peter O'Mara Drug Store until 1986. It has its original ornate tin embossed ceiling and maple hardwood floor. Designed along the traditional English style. It was opened as a museum in 1988, and named James J. O'Mara Pharmacy Museum in 1990.
