Content updates
Major updates
The following content has been extensively updated and reviewed by 2 external peer reviewers:
- Parasitic Skin Infections: Lice and Scabies: Added two new patient infographics; expanded patient assessment section to include more information on differential diagnosis and when to refer patients; several improvements from a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) perspective: noting the difficulty of using a fine-toothed comb with curly/kinked hair and adding new photos of scabies in darkly pigmented skin; expanded information on the “no nit” policy in some schools and why this is no longer recommended; clarified use of permethrin in pregnancy; expanded treatment options for scabies.
- Pregnancy and Fertility Testing: Added more details on different methods to predict ovulation, including digital tests; added a sample diary and more practical tips for proper use of home tests; updated gendered language to meet DEI standards.
- Syncope: Added SSRIs as a treatment option for some patients.
Minor updates
The following content has been reviewed to ensure that it is current:
- ADHD: Added information on new methylphenidate formulations and new video game therapy approved in US.
- Hypertension: Added new algorithm that was worked on with Canadian guideline authors to adapt their treatment algorithm.
Drug monographs
The following drug monographs were recently added:
- Okedi: Antipsychotic Agent.
- Imaavy: Neonatal Fc Receptor Antagonist.
