Content updates
Major updates
The following content has been extensively updated and reviewed by 2 external peer reviewers:
- Chronic Cough in Adults: Expanded assessment algorithm, including allergic and non-allergic causes, GERD, ACE inhibitors, and other considerations; updated recommendations related to GERD; added more options in pregnancy.
- Contraception: Hormonal and Intrauterine Devices: Added several new products; updated section on risks with CHCs; added link to CPhA’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Toolkit.
- Emergency Contraception: New standalone chapter! Added a new table covering how and when to start regular contraception post-EC; added link to CPhA’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Toolkit.
- Fungal Skin Infection: Expanded assessment section, including new table to help with differential diagnosis; added 3 new algorithms; new drug tables for systemic therapy; pregnancy and breastfeeding section now also has topical and systemic drug tables; new patient information section.
- Headache in Adults: Updated to align with latest Canadian, US and international guidelines; new information on the calcitonin gene-related peptide receptor antagonists (CGRP-RA or “gepants”); new information on nonpharmacologic prevention strategies; major updates and expansion of table that assists with selecting prophylactic therapy based on different patient factors.

- Tobacco Use Disorder: Smoking and Nicotine Cessation: Comprehensive information on pathophysiology, patient assessment, treatment, and monitoring; comprehensive algorithm including assessment, non-pharmacologic treatment, and pharmacologic treatment; new information on youth and vaping; evidence-informed information on nicotine pouches; alignment with new Canadian guidelines; new patient infographic.
Drug monographs
The following drug monograph was recently added:
- Myfembree (relugolix, estradiol and norethindrone acetate): Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor antagonist—Estrogen—Progestin.
