FAQ resource: New measures to restrict nicotine replacement therapies

CPhA has developed an FAQ resource to support pharmacy professionals who have questions about the new measures recently introduced by Health Canada to restrict nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs). The resource covers common questions about the regulations, NRT products, how pharmacists are impacted and more.

The regulations—Supplementary Rules Respecting Nicotine Replacement Therapies Order (SOR/2024-169)—were published on August 15, 2024 in the Canada Gazette and are part of new measures to restrict NRTs to address growing concerns about recreational use by youth who do not smoke. CPhA participated in NRT consultations with Health Canada and is supportive of the regulations.
