Pharmacy Practice Research
The Canadian Pharmacists Association is a strong advocate for pharmacy practice research in Canada. Both academic researchers and practising pharmacists are involved in pharmacy practice research. Increasingly, links are being formed with policy-makers as well, to ensure that the knowledge created by researchers is incorporated and reflected in new policies affecting pharmacy practice and health care delivery.
Pharmacy Practice Research is a component of health services research that focuses on the assessment and evaluation of pharmacy practice. It includes studies that evaluate pharmacists' roles in a variety of capacities. These studies include systems research, patient-centred research and community based research that encompass a variety of determinants of health and their influence on patient outcomes and population health. CPhA's quarterly publication, the Translator, supports the knowledge translation between pharmacy practice research and health policy.
The annual Canadian Pharmacists Conference is an excellent opportunity for pharmacists from across Canada to network with colleagues and to share new and exciting ideas, research and innovation. Our research and innovation presentations at the conference provides an opportunity for members of the pharmacy community to engage in sessions that promote evidence-based practice and decision-making.
