QUIT (Quit Using and Inhaling Tobacco) Smoking Cessation Program
(5 CEUs)

Across Canada, provinces are enhancing pharmacists’ scopes of practice to include prescribing smoking cessation medications, offering reimbursement for professional services and even providing free smoking cessation products to patients. The time has never been better to ramp up your knowledge and skills in the area of smoking cessation.

Program Outline and Objectives:

CPhA's QUIT continuing program will enhance your skills, confidence and ability to provide smoking cessation services.

Modules include:

  • Module 1: Starting Intervention
  • Module 2: Addiction
  • Module 3: Pharmacotherapy
  • Module 4: Counselling Patients
  • Module 5: Creating a smoking cessation program in your pharmacy

Accreditation and Completion Requirements

This course has been accredited  as a continuing education certificate program for 5.0 CEUs under file #8002-2016-1877-I-P by the Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA), a CCCEP-approved accredited provider. To earn the continuing education certificate for the course, participants must complete all module requirements including all reflective and self-assessments activities in addition to earning 70% or greater on the post-test. You will have up to 3 attempts to pass the post-test. Complete details on these items are provided within the program.

Participants who achieve the certificate of completion may state that they hold a Continuing Education Certificate in Providing QUIT Smoking Cessation Services. The program certificate does not provide participants with professional certification credentials.

The current CCCEP accreditation expires on Oct. 1, 2019. CPhA will renew the program accreditation at that time. Please note: in no way does this affect program participants. It is just our way of ensuring our programs have the most current and accurate information available. Please feel free to register at any time, regardless of the accreditation expiry date. A 6-CEU live workshop is also available on demand.

This is a computer-based online course and operates on the UW LEARN platform. You will need:

  • A desktop or laptop/notebook computer; the course is not optimized for tablets or smartphones
  • High-speed Internet access

  • Soundcard and speakers or headphones
