Clinical Editor

The Canadian Pharmacists Association (CPhA) is actively recruiting for a Clinical Editor on a 9-month term to join our Digital Solutions department.

We are a fully remote workforce and are looking for someone who is able to be fully productive, efficient and effective in a remote environment.

Job Summary

Clinical editors are responsible for researching, developing, and writing scientific and clinical content for CPhA publications, print and electronic; editing and assuring quality of content to conform with best available evidence.

Duties and Tasks

  • Evaluates and monitors the quality of CPhA publications with the aim of improving content, format, accuracy, efficiency, and currency.
  • Creates drug and therapeutic content according to the best available evidence.
  • Maintains awareness of current therapeutic and clinical practice issues by reading medical/pharmacy journals and participating in professional development.
  • Acts as content expert consultant for technical development of products or internal processes.
  • Participates in regular project, pharmacist, editor and publication meetings reporting on project, content, editorial and professional issues.
  • Coordinates development of content.
  • Researches and validates the content of the topics while preserving the scientific integrity of the data.
  • Establishes and maintains communication/correspondence with a diverse group of experts.
  • Initiates, coordinates, and maintains all documentation systems for communications related to responsibilities.
  • Specializes in therapeutic areas in consultation with the Editor-in-Chief.

Other Duties

  • Reviews, evaluates, and applies judgment for various intradepartmental activities and publications.
  • Participates at various professional and public relations functions (e.g., meetings and conferences) on behalf of CPhA.
  • Represents Digital Solutions on other committees as assigned.
  • Participates in training of new employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Editor-in-Chief.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Takes ownership of individual chapters and monographs. Signs off on the work of the Scientific Editor, Assistant Editors and Pharmacy Students.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor or Doctor degree in Pharmacy, Pharmacist, licensed in a Canadian province.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of clinical and/or drug information experience.

Skills

  • Awareness of current practice issues.
  • Awareness of reliable sources of print and electronic drug and therapeutic information.
  • Ability to research and evaluate medical and scientific information.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Editorial skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of computers and hand-held devices.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to display a commitment to and advocate for diversity and inclusion.

Asset Skills

  • Bilingualism (English and French)

  • Advanced Degree in Pharmacy

Salary Range

  • $72,000 - $84,000 (pro-rated for 0.8 FTE, 4 days/week).
