Other CPhA Initiatives and Resources: Pharmacists and Emergency Contraception
Emergency contraceptive pills (ECPs) are a woman's last chance to prevent a pregnancy. CPhA co-chairs the
National Advisory Committee on Emergency Contraception with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC).
To reduce the number of unintended pregnancies in Canada, women need to know about emergency contraception before they need it and have access to it when they need it. CPhA is working towards making ECPs available directly from a pharmacist and to ensure payment for professional services.
