Educational Resources: Practical Diabetes Management for Pharmacists

Run under the direction of the Canadian Pharmacists Association, Canadian Diabetes Association and l'Association Diabète Québec, this program will assist the pharmacist in providing optimal care for people affected with diabetes. It consists of 22 modules and other resources in diabetes, presented in a full day, or two half-day formats. Participants work through core modules with a multi-disciplinary faculty consisting of a diabetes nurse educator, pharmacist, physician, and dietician.

Principle Goals of the Program:

  • To enhance the clinical management of diabetes in the community.
  • To enhance the clinical skills of pharmacists so they become local resources in diabetes management.
  • To provide pragmatic tools for diabetes management and education.
  • To facilitate communication between retail pharmacists, physicians, health professionals and diabetes education centres.
  • To create local areas of competence in diabetes care that will be recognized in the community.
  • To provide national recognition of the program graduate through endorsement by the Canadian Pharmacists Association, Canadian Diabetes Association and l'Association Diabète Québec.
