Pharmacist membership categories

Active ($336 plus tax) View Benefits | Join now!
An active member is a pharmacist licensed to practice pharmacy in Canada and/or holding a professional degree in pharmacy from a school of pharmacy recognized by the Pharmacy Examining Board of Canada. Active members have the right to vote and may be officers of the Association.

    New Practitioner View Benefits | Join now!
    A new practitioner is an active member who has held a pharmacist license in Canada not greater than five years. New practitioners have the right to vote and may be officers of the Association.

    1. Year 1 (Complimentary) - Graduation year 2010*
      Eligibility: A pharmacist joining the Association in the first year following graduation from an undergraduate BScPharm or entry level PharmD program at a Canadian school of pharmacy.
    2. Year 2 ($112 plus tax) - Graduation year 2009*
      Eligibility: A pharmacist in the second year of pharmacy practice following an undergraduate BScPharm or entry level PharmD program at a Canadian school of pharmacy.
    3. Year 3 ($224 plus tax) - Graduation year 2008*
      Eligibility: A pharmacist in the third year of pharmacy practice following an undergraduate BScPharm or entry level PharmD program at a Canadian school of pharmacy.
    4. Years 4-5 ($336 plus tax) - Graduation year 2007 or 2006*
      Eligibility: A pharmacist in the fourth and fifth years of pharmacy practice following an undergraduate BScPharm or entry level PharmD program at a Canadian school of pharmacy.

    *NOTE: International Pharmacy Graduates (IPGs) are not eligible for a complimentary membership year, but can become New Practitioner members at the discounted rate in their first and second years of practice.

    Spousal ($202 plus tax) View Benefits | Join now!
    Eligibility: Two pharmacists who are spouses** are eligible for spousal membership if both members are eligible for active membership. Such members are entitled to the rights and privileges of active membership with the following modifications:

    • One membership is charged at the active rate and the second is charged at 60%.
    • Only one membership benefit choice (CPS, CE program, e-CPS or e-Therapeutics+) is provided.
    • Only one copy of the Canadian Pharmacists Journal (CPJ) and other membership publications will be mailed.

    Each spousal member has the right to vote and may be an officer of the Association.

    **NOTE: The term "spouse" is defined as per the Income Tax Act of Canada.

    Undergraduate student (Complimentary)
    Eligibility: A student enrolled in an undergraduate BScPharm or entry level PharmD pharmacy program at a Canadian school of pharmacy.

    Graduate student (Complimentary)
    Eligibility: An individual qualified for active membership and currently enrolled in full-time graduate studies, a pharmacy residency program or has been enrolled in a CPhA-recognized IPG bridging program in Canada during the membership year.

Student members have the right to vote for the Student representative on the Board of Directors and may not be officers of the Association.

Non-pharmacist membership categories

Supporting ($336 plus tax) View Benefits | Join now!
An individual or unincorporated association supporting the goals and objectives of CPhA but does not qualify for any other membership category. Supporting members are eligible for all member benefits and discounts and also receive all member communications. They do not have the right to vote and may not be officers of the Association.

Corporate ($2200 plus tax) View Benefits | Join now!
A corporation that supports the objectives of CPhA. A corporate member may name three individuals, who may or may not be active members, as its representatives. Representatives who are active members (i.e. pharmacists) have the right to vote and may be officers of the Association.

NOTE: GST is applicable in AB, MB, SK, QC and PE.
          HST is applicable in BC, ON, NB, NS and NL.

Joint memberships

American Pharmacists Association ($139CDN)
CPhA members can join the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) for 50% off APhA’s full membership fee.


Monthly payment plans are available for all categories EXCEPT Corporate. Contact us for details. Fees are effective July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.
